Our Story

Providence serves the Westerville and North Columbus areas as a Word-centered, grace-driven community of Christ followers.

Providence Church started in 2001 with a small group of people committed to growing together in community and in relationship with Christ. As they worshiped together they began to realize a shared desire to establish a Gospel-centered fellowship in the Westerville community, and Providence was born.

In 2002, the church purchased the historic McVay horse ranch property in Westerville, including the horse barn (which was converted into a sanctuary) and the manor house (which was used as the parsonage). This property was later sold to the city of Westerville and now comprises the 7 acre Johnston-McVay City Park.

Regardless of where we are meeting, our ongoing desire is to serve Westerville and Columbus with the distinctiveness of a church that is firmly rooted in the authority of the Bible. We are deeply involved in our community through strategic partnerships with WARM, LifeWise Academy, and Northside Christian School. We emphasize expositional teaching, humble worship, and authentic relationships. We strive to be Word-centered, Christ-exalting and grace-driven in everything we do.
